Phoenix approves rezone to allow for contentious emergency room

Phoenix City Council approved a rezoning last month to allow for a contentious HonorHealth emergency room near a residential Paradise Valley neighborhood.

Twenty-six residents called into the Wednesday, April 21 City Council meeting in opposition to the proposed emergency room with six calling in to support it. Those opposed said it would disturb the peace of the residential neighborhood, believing the facility will be far more disruptive than HonorHealth says it will be.

City staff also reported it received 42 letters in opposition to the development.
