Phoenix approves new council district map, considers adding more districts down the line

Phoenix City Council approved a new council map for the next decade, with only minor changes made from the past map.

However, some council members indicated they’re ready for a big change to districts.

Three council members said they believe the city should add more districts. With the city’s population having grown to 1.6 million, each of the city’s eight council members represents about 201,000 residents. The mayor represents the city at-large.
