Phoenix City Council approved a large housing development next to Hurricane Harbor water park in north Phoenix last week.
Lennar Homes plans to build 294 homes on 74.5 acres on the south side of Pinnacle Peak Road at 39th Drive. The development, to be called Paseo Heights, includes a 5.8-acre commercial area on the west end, immediately next to the water park.
Council’s 8-0 approval of the property’s rezoning and general plan amendment came over the objections of 970 homeowners who signed a letter objecting to the development, saying that land adjacent to the Adobe Dam Regional Park should remain designated for recreational use under the general plan.
