Phoenix applies for $20M federal grant to replace bridge over Grand Canal

The city of Phoenix is applying for a $20 million federal grant to replace a nearly 100-year-old bridge over Grand Canal at Van Buren and 40th streets.

Staff from Phoenix’s Street Transportation Department conducted studies on several bridges, identifying them for either rehabilitation or reconstruction. In July 2020, the bridge at Van Buren and 40th was determined be the highest priority.
