The city of Phoenix is working on a system to ensure owners of vacant properties maintain the space to avoid them deteriorating into blight.
Phoenix Neighborhood Services staff will require owners of large properties left vacant for more than 30 days to sign up for a free online registry that will require them to leave the contact information of an in-state contact that can address any issues with the property as they arise.
The key work will be done as property owners sign up for the registry, where staff will educate them about common issues with vacant properties and connect them with resources to address problems.
