The city of Phoenix is ahead of schedule repaving hundreds of miles of arterial streets in the city and is beginning to repave small sections of residential streets.
In 2018, City Council advanced funding from a transportation sales tax to allocate $200 million toward repaving 630 miles of the city’s arterial streets. Three years into that five-year period, the city’s Streets Department has completed 83% of the planned repavements, Streets Director Kini Knudson said during a program update to City Council Tuesday.
Councilman Sal DiCiccio said street quality can be a big factor in someone’s impression of a city.
