Phoenix adopts new short-term rental policy, but wishes state would give cities more control

The city of Phoenix has a new system for short-term rentals. It’s just not the system officials wanted.

Phoenix City Council last week unanimously approved an updated short-term rental policy based on a new state law passed last year, but many members lamented how much the state Legislature has tied their hands to regulate short-term rentals.

“While the state has given us additional authority, I would say, a lot of my neighborhoods would say we still need more authority,” said Councilmember Debra Stark.
