Phoenix this month added 362 transitional housing beds for people experiencing homelessness, officials said.
The city partnered to open three new temporary, transitional lodging locations, adding 302 new beds in Phoenix. It also is temporarily expanding capacity at the Washington Relief Shelter, adding 60 beds at that location, according to a release.
“These temporary locations are currently serving people in need while the city continues to build permanent solutions, including 790 additional new shelter beds and focusing on creating and preserving affordable housing,” the release stated.

The city partnered to open three new temporary, transitional lodging locations, adding 302 new beds in Phoenix. It also is temporarily expanding capacity at the Washington Relief Shelter, adding 60 beds at that location, according to a release.
“These temporary locations are currently serving people in need while the city continues to build permanent solutions, including 790 additional new shelter beds and focusing on creating and preserving affordable housing,” the release stated.
The additions come as the city works to meet a court-ordered deadline to address the area around the Human Services Campus, providing “safe spaces” for people experiencing homelessness, city officials said.
