Phoenix adds $12.5M toward neighborhood revitalization effort

Phoenix is putting $12.5 million more federal funding toward a neighborhood revitalization effort.

The Edison-Eastlake Choice Neighborhoods initiative is a grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to transform distressed neighborhoods and public housing into mixed-income neighborhoods linking housing improvements with appropriate services, schools, public assets, transportation and access to jobs.

The city initially was granted $30 million from HUD in 2017 for the program and approved the additional $12.5 million, secured through federal grants in 2022 and 2024, on June 17.
