The first round of casita renovations at New Life Center is complete, made possible through the nonprofit’s selection for the Lowe’s Hometowns Award.
The Goodyear-based organization, which operates one of the largest standalone domestic violence shelters in Arizona, was chosen as one of 100 community-nominated projects nationwide to receive a large-scale renovation through Lowe’s Hometowns, the company’s five-year, $100 million community impact initiative.
The completed upgrades include new bathroom fixtures, durable flooring and energy-efficient lighting, transforming the emergency shelter casitas into more welcoming and calming spaces for survivors of domestic violence.

The renovations are part of a plan to improve eight casitas in total. The changes are intended to provide survivors with a supportive environment as they work to stabilize, heal and transition to the next phase of their lives.
Now in its fourth year, Lowe’s Hometowns supports the revitalization of nonprofit and community spaces nationwide. Projects are completed with the help of Lowe’s red vest associates and include efforts such as expanding kitchen and serving capacity for food pantries, restoring transitional housing, revitalizing parks and gardens, and building restorative spaces for first responders.
Earlier this year, Lowe’s announced a promise to deliver 10 million square feet of community impact through initiatives like Lowe’s Hometowns.
