Peter Anthony "Pete" Buczek, 96, died peacefully on July 5th at his home in Peoria. An Arizona resident since 1988, he was born April 17, 1922, in Yonkers, NY. He met his future wife Carol while both worked at a private country club in Bronxville, NY. They were married November 15, 1958.Pete entered the Army in the early 1940s and served in the Pacific theater with MacArthur's troops when the General commanded taking over Japan. In retirement Pete and Carol took up golf, both becoming proficient: he scored two holes-in-one, and Carol scored one, at Sun City's golf courses.Everyone who met Pete liked him. He was a gentle man with lots of friends. He enjoyed life and considered each day a blessing. Survivors include Pete's wife, Carol Buczek; Dorothy Erickson, Jim Erickson, Dr. Jon Erickson, Dennis Wasiczko, Raymond Wasiczko, Florence Fenner, Robert Jefferson, John and Betty Whiteman, Jeff and Holly Whiteman, Christy and Jim Wilson, Eric Whiteman, Jean Whiteman, and their families. A memorial with military honors will be held at 11:00 A.M., July 18th, at Advantage Mortuary, 11211 W. Michigan Avenue, Youngtown, AZ 85363.
