Peoria Unified urges legislature to act swiftly on archaic AEL

No action by state could result in tens of millions lost to district

The Peoria Unified School District is making its voice heard about a looming spending crisis that could occur if the Arizona legislature does not take action on an archaic state constitution amendment.

The district’s governing board approved a resolution Nov. 10 that supports an override of the constitutional aggregate expenditure limit for fiscal year 2023, and urges the legislature to swiftly take action before the end of the year.

The board approved the resolution, 4-0, with board member Bill Sorensen absent.
