Peoria Unified to host numerous Veterans Day events

Students, staff, families, and community members across Peoria Unified School District are honoring and celebrating military personnel, first responders and their families on Veterans Day.
The following is a list of Peoria Unified Veterans Day events:
Saturday, Nov. 4
Alta Loma Elementary: 9750 N. 87th Ave., Peoria
A Veterans Day barbecue lunch will be served from 10:30 a.m. until noon in the multipurpose room. There will also be a silent auction in which proceeds will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project and Soldier’s Best Friend.
Tuesday, Nov. 7
Desert Valley Elementary: 12901 N. 63rd Ave., Glendale
At 9 a.m., the school will hold a flag raising ceremony, followed by a veterans assembly and breakfast.
Zuni Hills Elementary: 10851 W. Williams Road, Sun City
A Veterans Day appreciation breakfast with donuts and coffee will be served in the school's library from 8:15 to 9 a.m. Following the breakfast, veterans will be honored during the Veterans Day assembly in the multipurpose room.
Wednesday, Nov. 8
Oakwood Elementary: 12900 N. 71st Ave., Peoria
A Veterans Day assembly will be held at 8:15 a.m. for the entire student body.
Sundance Elementary: 7051 W. Cholla Ave., Peoria
A Veterans Day breakfast will be served beginning at 7:15 a.m.
Vistancia Elementary: 30009 N. Sunrise Point, Peoria
At 7:15 a.m., a Veterans Day breakfast will be served, followed by a schoolwide ceremony featuring the Vistancia band and choir as well as a student speaker.
Thursday, Nov. 9
Apache Elementary: 8633 W. John Cabot Road, Peoria
At 7 a.m., the Apache Elementary student council will be serving a Veterans Day breakfast.
Canyon Elementary: 5490 W. Paradise Lane, Glendale
At 7:45 a.m., a flag raising ceremony will take place in front of the school, immediately followed by a Veterans Day breakfast and slide show in the cafeteria.
Coyote Hills Elementary: 21180 N. 87th Ave., Peoria
A Veterans Day breakfast will be served from 8:30 to 10 a.m. in the multipurpose room.
Country Meadows Elementary: 8409 N. 111th Ave., Peoria
There will be a Veterans Day breakfast and parade kicking off at 9 a.m. in the school library.
Desert Harbor Elementary: 15585 N. 91st Ave., Peoria
At 9 a.m., a Wall of Honor featuring photos of veterans and active-duty military personnel will be displayed in the school gym. Veterans and military personnel in attendance are invited to wear their uniforms to the celebration.
District Administration Center: 6330 W. Thunderbird Road, Glendale
Peoria Unified district employees will honor veterans by unveiling a veterans’ remembrance board filled with pictures of their loved ones who have served.
Foothills Elementary: 15808 N. 63rd Ave., Glendale
A Veterans Day breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. in the cafeteria, followed by a presentation of colors at 8:15 a.m.
Lake Pleasant Elementary: 31501 N. Westland Road, Peoria
Beginning at 7:15 a.m., the student council will provide a breakfast for veterans. Then, at 8:05 a.m., veterans will parade through the halls where they can be celebrated by students and staff. Concluding in the multipurpose room, there will be a reading of the history of Veterans Day along with a military display and recognition from the principal.
Oasis Elementary: 7841 W. Sweetwater Ave., Peoria
The annual Veterans Day luncheon will be held from 10:35 a.m. to 12:40 p.m. Veterans are welcome to visit and dine with students during lunch periods.
Pioneer Elementary: 6315 W. Port au Prince Lane, Glendale
From 9:15 to 11 a.m., a Veterans Day assembly will be held in the cafeteria/multipurpose room. Seating will begin at 9 a.m. and light refreshments will be served for veterans in attendance. The assembly will honor veterans in the Pioneer Elementary community.
Sky View Elementary: 8624 W. Sweetwater Ave., Peoria
A Veterans Day breakfast will be served in the cafeteria from 7:40 to 8 a.m.
Sunset Heights Elementary: 9687 W. Adam Ave., Peoria
At 9 a.m., a Veterans Day parade will take place on campus, celebrating all retired military personnel.
Monday Nov. 13
Sun Valley Elementary: 8361 N. 95th Ave., Peoria
At 9:15 a.m., a Veterans Day assembly featuring the eighth-grade class, AVID classes, staff and administrators will be held to honor active military.
