Peoria Unified may urge governor, legislature to act on archaic AEL

No action by state could result in tens of millions lost to district

The Peoria Unified School District could make its voice heard about a looming spending crisis that could occur if the Arizona legislature does not take action on an archaic state constitution amendment.

The district’s governing board will consider a resolution Nov. 10 that supports an override of the constitutional aggregate expenditure limit for fiscal year 2023, and urges the governor and legislature to take action before the end of the year.

At least 56 Arizona school districts have taken similar actions, according to Arizona School Boards Association.
