Retirees will have a front row seat for the inner workings of the Peoria Unified School District, with opportunities to learn about topics ranging from finance to academics and more.
The district is kicking off the inaugural class of its Retiree Leadership Academy, aimed at retirees without school-age children at home.
Spokeswoman Danielle Airey said about 70% of those who live within the district’s boundaries do not have school age children living at home, and Peoria Unified wants all stakeholders to feel like valued members of the district, even if they do not have students in district schools.
