Peoria Unified files court motion seeking clarity on sex scandal warrant

The Peoria Unified School District is looking protect some of its information when it comes to a search warrant they were served by police regarding an alleged sex scandal involving former Centennial High teachers Haley Beck and Angela Burlaka.

Peoria Unified spokesperson Danielle Airey said the district has filed a limited motion asking the court to "clarify the scope of the search warrant, protect attorney-client privileged communications, and allow a brief extension to provide legally required notice to families under FERPA."

FERPA stands for Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, which is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. It applies to all schools and educational institutions that receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
