Here's why funds for a new high school in Peoria Unified are not on the bond this election

After years of increases, enrollment now decreasing at Liberty High

For years, the northern part of Peoria Unified has been in need of a new high school due to population growth.

The need has led to requests for new high school funding on past bond authorizations, although a bond has not been approved by voters since 2012.

On this year’s ballot, the PUSD bond authorization does not include funding for a new high school because district officials say data has shifted.
