West Valley school board president makes statement supporting ICE, opposing student protests

The Peoria Unified School District governing board president recently made a public statement that she stands with Immigrant and Customs Enforcement and does not support student protests happening in the district.

Heather Rooks took to Facebook Jan. 28 in a video post thanking ICE for ensuring law and order, as well as the Peoria and Glendale police for protecting district students during the protests.

“I do not support the protests that are happening right now, across the country, across our state, and in our high schools. It’s very disruptive to the learning environment, and I am not supportive of that. But I do want to thank the students who did stay in class and followed instruction time and engaged in their learning with their teachers,” she said.
