Peoria Unified board mum on selection of president

Newcomer Rebecca Proudfit will take over as Peoria Unified governing board president at the Jan. 25 meeting, but the discussion behind her selection is a mystery.

At the last governing board meeting, the usually routine election of governing board officers at the beginning of every calendar year took a turn.

After 30 minutes of public comments and governing board members David Sandoval, Melissa Ewing and Heather Rooks stating their interest in being president, Sandoval called a five-minute recess.
