The Peoria Unified governing board at their Aug. 27 public meting engaged in a protracted and heated debate over a first read of revisions to a controversial “No DEI” policy that has dogged the district since it was approved last year.
The updated policy removes altogether the phrase diversity, equity, and inclusion, starting with the policy title.
The policy, titled Prohibition of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, was changed to Equal Opportunity and Merit- Based Decision-Making. The updated policy also removed the definition of DEI.
