Last week, the Peoria Unified School District governing board publicly addressed the federal government’s new Title IX regulations that deal with gender identity and transgender students in district bathrooms and locker rooms.
With the conversation came high emotions and passions that have swirled around this issue over the past few years.
As the deadline approached to implement the new regulations Aug. 1, board members decided to take no action amid the legal challenges surrounding the transgender issue both in Arizona and other parts of the country.
