Peoria Unified among Arizona districts to get withheld federal money

More than $118M in funding affected schools across state

Arizona school districts, including Peoria Unified, will receive previously withheld federal education funding.

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes last month joined a coalition in filing a lawsuit challenging the Trump Administration’s unlawful decision by the U.S. Department of Education to freeze more than $118 million for Arizona students, part of about $7 billion nationwide in funding.

Peoria Unified’s new academic year started Aug. 31.
