Peoria to get estimated $2.4M from opioid settlement

Planned to be paid out over 18 years

A number of state and local governments have filed lawsuits against opioid makers and distributors to recoup billions in tax dollars spent dealing with the opioid crisis.

The state of Arizona began receiving its share of settlement money in 2021, and now Peoria is following suit.

Peoria City Council voted Feb. 21 to accept an estimated $2.4 million over the life of the settlement payments, which is planned during the next 18 years.
