Peoria takes steps to secure more water for residents

Could secure up to 2,500 acre-feet of additional water

Peoria has taken another step in securing more water for the future of the city.

The city council approved an agreement with the Salt River Project to share in the cost of a proposal for flood control modifications to Roosevelt Dam, which may result in up to 2,500 acre-feet of additional water to the city.

This year, the city updated its drought contingency planning efforts and noted the importance of pursuing new partnerships to further secure additional sources of water for Peoria’s future, particularly renewable water.
