Peoria sought second opinion on final voting district maps

The city of Peoria commissioned a second opinion on final map proposals as part of a federally mandated process to redistrict its council boundaries to adjust voting areas based on population shifts from 2020 Census data.

This year Peoria officials have worked with consultant Research Advisory Services, facing a compressed time frame to redistrict the council districts because of delays during the pandemic in collecting Census data, now reaching the final stages in the last month.

Research Advisory Services specializes in drawing or redrawing election districts for cities as well as counties, and has drawn maps for dozens of jurisdictions in Arizona and California.
