Peoria sells land to APS to help power innovation core

New substation, power lines will be built

The city of Peoria is selling 10 acres in the Peoria Innovation Core to Arizona Public Service Co. where the utility company will put a future substation and easements to support high voltage infrastructure.

The parcel is east of 96th Avenue and south of the Central Arizona Project canal within Core 2 of the Innovatin Core.

Because of the constraints of existing utilities adjacent to Lake Pleasant Parkway, APS requested to buy the parcel, and on June 16, Peoria City Council approved a purchase agreement for the utility company to buy the parcel for $6.2 million.
