Peoria secures $2.85M for second helicopter from Congress

Funds earmarked by Hamadeh in federal bill

The city of Peoria will have funds for a second helicopter thanks to a federal allocation from Rep. Abe Hamadeh.

The Republican representative included $2.85 million for the helicopter in bill HR 6938: Commerce, Justice, Science; Energy and Water Development; and Interior and Environment Appropriations Act, which provides fiscal year 2026 appropriations to several federal departments and agencies for purposes ranging from public lands to law enforcement.

The bill includes more than $7 million in earmarked funding for public safety and veteran projects in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District, spanning parts of Phoenix, Peoria, Surprise, Glendale, Sun City and Sun City West.
