Peoria school board to consider Bloom 365 agreement

Nonprofit has drawn opposition from some parents

A group of parents has waged a battle against a nonprofit contracted with Peoria Unified School District — Bloom 365, an organization whose mission is to prevent teen violence before it happens.

It is a conflict that has been emblematic of the drama playing out in school districts across the nation and in Peoria, with some parents wanting more control over what happens in the classroom.

Some local parents have been making their concerns known on social media platforms and at public comment sections at PUSD governing board meetings in recent months. Bloom 365 has responded with their own comments, standing by their mission at school board meetings and on social media, in a back and forth that has led up to this moment.
