Peoria readies for reclaimed water projects

First project extends 7.6 miles from Beardsley plant to Loop 303

The city is taking early steps toward expanding its reclaimed water system to bring more treated water to the northern part of Peoria.

As an initial step, the Peoria City Council recently approved a contract amendment to GHD Inc. in the amount of $1.1 million to provide engineering design and construction administration services to start a backbone 24-inch transmission main to transport reclaimed water to northern Peoria.

Mayor Cathy Carlat said this is a critical step in planning for the city's future.
