A man stole a purse from a vehicle in a parking lot in Peoria after smashing its window back in December, and police seek the public's help identifying the suspect.

The incident occurred at a parking lot in the area of 96th and Peoria avenues at about 5:40 p.m. on Dec. 13, 2016.

In a video released by the Peoria Police Department, the burglar and a driver waited down the street until the driver of the a vehicle exited to go into a business.

The male suspect then walked up to the vehicle but quickly turned around as someone else exited the business. He re-entered his vehicle and returned down the street to wait for another person to arrive.

Another person arrived and exited her vehicle to enter a daycare center to pick up her child. The man and driver pulled back up in front of the business. The suspect exited the vehicle, walked up to the victims’ vehicle and smashed the passenger side window, stealing the woman's purse.

The incident happened in less than one minute. The suspects then headed southbound on 96th Avenue toward Peoria Avenue.

The suspect appears to be a white or light-skinned Hispanic male, between 16 and 25 with an average build. He was wearing a dark shirt, dark pants and a black and red baseball hat with the Arizona flag logo on the front. The suspect vehicle involved appears to be a 4-door, white Acura with a sunroof and chrome-colored rims.

Anyone who recognizes the man, the vehicle or has information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Detective Hebard of the Peoria Police Department’s Property Crimes Unit at 623-773-8311.
