Peoria Police investigate foot pursuit that ended in fatality in Surprise

Incident involved Surprise Police and Surprise resident

Peoria Police are investigating a foot pursuit in Surprise that ended in a fatality.

The the fatality has been identified as 30-year-old Rudy Gaitan, of Surprise.

Officers with the Surprise Police Department responded to a domestic violence call for service just after 10:30 p.m. Feb. 5, near Reems Road and Acoma Drive, in Surprise. While officers were en route, they were informed that Gaitan had left the residence on foot and may have had a weapon.
