Two people are dead after being shot inside a Peoria home near North 78th Avenue and West Mescal Street, police said.
The shooting occurred about 4:10 a.m. Nov. 11 when one of the victims reported she had been shot along with her husband inside her home.
Officers arrived and found two people with what appeared to be gunshot wounds, police said.
The man died at the scene and on Sunday police identified him as Walter Mitchell, 52, of Peoria.
Lifesaving measures were performed on the woman at the home, and she was taken to a hospital, where she died from her injuries. She has been identified as 42-year-old Susie Ephrem of Peoria.
Preliminary information shows there was forced entry into the home, police said, adding it is not believed to be a random act.
“Detectives are working diligently to identify who the suspect(s) are. They are conducting interviews with neighbors, family members and witnesses. At this time, no arrests have been made,” the Peoria Police Department stated in a release.
