Peoria’s new Women’s Premier Soccer League team now has an official name: Desert Dreams F.C.

For the uninitiated, the F.C. stands for football club.

After receiving more than 500 name ideas submitted by local fans, the team narrowed it down to 10 potential team names for season ticket holders to vote on.

Desert Dreams F.C. beat out the following potential team names in the vote by season ticket holders: AZ48 FC, Cactus Blossoms, Copper Queens, Copper State FC, Desert Belles, Desert Thunder, Saguaro Sunrise, Sunburst and Sunrays.

The team kicks off this summer at Peoria Sports Complex following the Cactus League season in May when the stadium field will transition into a soccer configuration. The match schedule is expected to be announced by the league in late March.

Season tickets are also available for  $99, and include a free Desert Dreams F.C. official jersey.

Desert Dreams F.C. is committed to creating a fun match day experience at affordable prices providing a unique opportunity to experience the world’s most popular sport. Further, the team is committed to allocating a certain number of roster spots focused on providing player development opportunities for Arizona-based players in the early stages of their career.
