Peoria native receives Navy commission

John David Carpenter of Peoria was among five members of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Reserve Officer Training Corps who received military commissions Dec. 16-17.

Carpenter was commissioned an ensign in the U.S. Navy on Dec. 17.

Other Army and Naval ROTC graduates repeated the oath of office during the undergraduate commencement ceremony that day. They were 2nd Lts. Jack O'Dell and Aubrey Fangmeier, Army; and Ensigns Cohan Bonow, and Nathan Hills, Navy.
