Peoria names community center after long-time council member, employee

Patena served 12 years on council, 18 years as city employee

In recognition of Councilman Bill Patena’s exceptional service to Peoria, the city is renaming the Peoria Community Center the William L. Patena Community Center.

The new name honors Patena’s 12 years of service as an elected official and his previous 18-years as an employee with the city.

He decided not to run for council in the next election and recently served in his final public meeting at the dais, Dec. 17.
