Peoria loans Scottsdale 2 trucks to keep operations going

10 Scottsdale solid waste vehicles destroyed in fire

After a fire destroyed 10 Scottsdale solid waste trucks, Jan. 3, Peoria responded by loaning the city two trucks to keep their  operations going.

The garbage trucks, which run on compressed natural gas, caught fire and were damaged at Scottsdale’s North Corporate Yard, 9191 E. San Salvador Drive, fire department officials said.

Peoria spokeswoman Kristina Perez said Scottsdale will use the Peoria tucks for a minimum of a month under a mutual agreement that’s been in place since 2016 with Peoria and all other Valley cities that operate their own solid waste collection services.
