The city of Peoria is launching its summer food service program at the Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson St.
The program will run from Tuesday, May 30, to Friday, July 28, providing nutritious meals to youth and teens aged 18 and younger, free of charge.
All others are welcome to join for a fee of $4 per meal.
The summer food service program aims to ensure children and teens have access to healthy and nourishing meals during the summer months when they may not have access to regular school meals.
By offering a hot dinner from Monday to Thursday and a cold meal on Fridays, as well as a daily snack, the city aims to support the nutritional needs of the community's youth and provide them with the fuel they need to thrive.
The meal schedule for the program is as follows.
Hot Dinner: Monday through Thursday, served 5-6 p.m.
Cold Meal: Fridays, served 5-6 p.m.
Snack: Monday through Friday, served 2-2:30 pm.
The city invites all families, caregivers, and community members to bring their children and teens to the Peoria Community Center to participate in the program. No registration is required, and meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
