Social media platform TikTok has been a launching pad for a slew of influencers and rising stars since it was released in 2016.
But when Peoria entertainer Don Yates, known as “Hollywood Yates” in the entertainment business, received advice to use it for his own career, he was a little leery.
“I didn’t really want to do social media, but then COVID hit and I was stuck at home during the shutdown. So I started using TikTok to entertain people,” he said. “I had 33,000 followers and then 74,000 followers and now more than 100,000.”
