Peoria district, board member respond to alleged Islamophobic social media posts

Peoria Unified School District and governing board member Janelle Bowles have responded to backlash caused by alleged Islamophobic social media posts she shared on her public accounts earlier this year.

Bowles said during a public governing board meeting June 23  the posts are about her Christian faith, and the First Amendment allows her to express her beliefs publicly.

She said she serves every student and family regardless of their religion, background or beliefs, and that sharing her faith does not mean she would ever discriminate against anyone.
