After six days of teacher walk-outs, all 42 Peoria Unified schools will open on Friday, according to a statement.
"We are pleased to report our data indicates that tomorrow, Friday, May 4 will be a typical school day and that we can re-open all schools," stated PUSD spokeswoman Erin Dunsey.
Other West Valley districts including Deer Valley and Dysart unified school districts have also announced schools will open on Friday.
"We know our community is anxious to know what the remainder of the school year will look like and how we will make-up the instructional time that was missed during the school closure," Ms. Dunsey stated. "We are working on our calendar and will post it to the district website once that work is complete."
Earlier today, the Arizona State Legislature passed a budget including a 20 percent pay raise for teachers by the 2020 school year, paving the way for teachers to return to class.
The walk-out, a result of long-time teacher dissatisfaction over pay and educational funding will result in about thousands of students making up missed school days at future dates.
