Peoria Council to look at rising gas costs

Peoria City Council will consider approving additional funds to cover rapidly increasing diesel and unleaded fuel costs, 6 p.m., March 22, 8401 W. Monroe Street.

Current consumption levels and fuel pricing costs exceed the city's budget for the public works department to cover until the end of the fiscal year, and the council could approve as much as $750,000 to cover overages.

Gas prices  set an all-time high in Arizona March 7 at $4.12 per gallon, beating the previous mark set 14 years ago during the Great Recession of 2008. And those costs have continued to grow.
