Peoria council to discuss utility rate hikes

'Significant economic changes' since last rate study

Peoria City Council will discuss possible utility rate increases for fiscal year 2024 in a study session at a public meeting, 4 p.m., Feb. 21.

The meeting will include a review of factors driving water, sewer, and solid waste utility rates, and then walk-through the related impact on proposed rates for the next few years.

Biannually, the finance and budget department conducts an in-depth review of the cost recovery models associated with the water, sewer, and solid waste enterprise funds. The current review is conducted with the assistance of an outside consulting firm who built the financial model at the last review.
