Peoria planing and zoning staff are nearly complete in updating the city code to be in compliance with state regulations on recreational marijuana.
Under the new law, the city may have dispensaries, cultivation facilities and testing facilittes, and the city may regulate them from a zoning perspective.
Planning and Community Development Director Chris Jacques said the already established medical marijuana code puts the city in a good place for regulating recreational marijuana, only needing to propose some housekeeping measures and other changes.
