Peoria Council approves Jurmu as acting city attorney

Replaces former city attorney Hickman

Peoria City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Emily Jurmu as acting city attorney, at a public meeting Jan. 24.

The appointment was immediately effective.

Jurmu was named acting attorney by previous City Attorney Vanessa Hickman upon her departure. As the position of city attorney is a charter officer position appointed by and reporting to mayor and council, the interim appointment was placed on council agenda for review and approval.
