Peoria city manager to step down as top executive

Darwin plans to remain with city in different position

City Manager Henry Darwin is stepping down as Peoria’s top executive, pending council approval, but he will remain with the city in a new position.

In a letter sent to city staff Jan. 6, Darwin said he will be stepping into another role with Peoria effective March 1. The letter did not go into details, but said the new role will assist the next city manager with “key projects and initiatives.”

A public vote is scheduled for Jan. 27 to take action on the next city manager’s contract and Darwin’s new role.
