Peoria City Hall roof and maintenance project begins in July

Don’t let the scaffolding deter you from visiting Peoria City Hall, as crews begin a $2.4 million project to replace the building’s roof and complete other weatherization improvements, beginning in July.

City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe St., will be completely accessible to the public and staff during this remodeling process, according to a news release. Signs will be placed to help visitors find entrances during construction. City Hall operating hours are Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. – 6 p.m., excluding holidays.

The Peoria Municipal Complex, which includes City Hall, is more than 30 years old and in need of some major maintenance. Over the next year, crews will replace the roof and make weatherization improvements to the building envelope.

The roof repair project will be completed in two phases over the next 8 months, weather pending. The first phase is July to November and focuses on the east and center buildings. The second phase will focus on the western portion of City Hall, which is scheduled to begin in November and is expected to be completed by March 2025.

In addition to replacing the roof, crews will repair deteriorating fascia, soffits, skylights, balcony patios, as well as masonry and glazing joint systems.

These much-needed repairs and investment in City Hall's maintenance will ensure its functionality for another 25 years.
