Peoria celebrates Juneteenth with night of music at center for performing arts

The city of Peoria invites the community to come together for an evening of reflection, celebration and inspiration during the inaugural Juneteenth Music of the Movement: A Celebration of Progress concert 7 p.m. Saturday, June 20, at the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, 10580 N. 83rd Drive.

This community celebration honors Juneteenth, the commemoration of freedom, resilience and the enduring pursuit of equality in America, through the unifying language of music.

Headlining the evening is The String Queens, the internationally acclaimed trio known for delivering emotionally moving performances that blend classical music with gospel, jazz, pop and soul. Their inspiring sound and message reflect the spirit of the evening: honoring the past while uplifting future generations through hope, unity and shared humanity.
