Peoria Unified plans no mask changes in wake of Maricopa County court ruling

Judge striking mask mandate bans has some districts extending requirements

The Peoria Unified School District does not plan to alter its mask approach at schools in the wake of a Maricopa County Superior Court decision that struck down a ban on districts mandating the practice.

Instead, PUSD will continue to have masks as optional  in its effort to mitigate COVID-19 at its schools, but they will be required on buses under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance, said Danielle Airey, the district's spokeswoman.

The district planned to send out a notice to parents to that effect on Tuesday.
