Peoria accepts $20.7M in federal relief money

Funds go to broad range categories

The city of Peoria has implemented a number of programs funded by the American Rescue Plan Act, the $1.9 trillion federal stimulus plan for pandemic relief, signed into law, March 21, 2021.

Arizona cities and towns have been given $2.6 billion in aid, an amount determined by a community development block grant formula. Of that, Peoria has been allocated $20.7 million, which the council recently approved for various projects.

“The council has previously approved the use of grant funding from the federal American Rescue Plan Act allocations for various projects over the last eight months, and with the direction of the federal government now” ... the city has determined a work plan for the expenditure of the remaining funds, City Manager Jeff Tyne said.
