Solidifies Arizona as a battleground state in 2020

On the homestretch to one of the biggest presidential elections in the modern era, Republican and Democratic presidential candidates landed in the Valley of the Sun to campaign for their respective sides as Arizona settles in as a battleground state for the 2020 election.

Some experts and polls say former Vice President Joe Biden has the rare chance to carry Arizona, a long-time Republican state. With more than half of this state’s voters registered neither Democrat nor Republican, the shift toward purple is becoming more evident — in a recent opinion poll from poll aggregation website FiveThirtyEight.com, Mr. Biden has a 3% lead over President Donald Trump.

With less than a month until Election Day, Mr. Biden and vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris stopped in Phoenix and Tempe to visit with small-business owners.
